Since 1999 High Anthropological School issues the international
periodic magazine "Stratum plus" devoted to
actual scientific problems of cultural anthropology and
archeology. The magazine is published in À4 demy six times
a year as thematic series; each of the issues is devoted
to the particular historical epoch, or enough special
actual scientific problem. The subjects of magazine’s
articles are not limited regionally or chronologically.
All publications contain the resume in English.
Standing editorial boards are situated in 4 cities - Kishinev
(the basic one, where all materials go through the full
publishing cycle), St. Petersburg, Odessa and Bucharest.
In structure of the standing editorial board 25 scientists
of 11 scientific centres of Kishinev, St. Petersburg,
Bucharest, Odessa and Simferopol are represented.
18 issues of magazine are already published by the present
moment. 20 monographies and 412 original articles from
over 20 countries of the world - Moldova, Romania, Russia,
Ukraine, Belarus, Bulgaria, Czechia, Hungary, Germany,
the Great Britain, Italy, France, Belgium, Sweden, Norway,
the USA, Turkey, China, Israel, Pakistan, Uzbekistan,
Tadjikistan are published. Academicians of the High Anthropological
School have written 3 of monographies and 44 articles.
"Stratum plus"
magazine is the unique periodical in Moldova, devoted
to archeology and cultural anthropology. In opinion of
experts "Stratum plus" is the best profile edition
in the Eastern Europe:
"...The archaeological journal STRATUM PLUS became
a leading one from the very moment of its foundation,
it is the main and the best archaeological magazine on
the post-Soviet area. Your journal managed to force the
"Russian Archaeology", which has been published
for over 50 years in Moscow, and Saint-Petersburg's "Archaeological
News" out of their first place. I held lectures in
a few leading world universities and will not palter if
say that the level of your audience can be compared to
the students' audiences in other capitals, and perhaps
your level is even stronger. And your energy, enthusiasm
and readiness to work are apparently stronger".
Leo Klejn
"...It is
so important to hear from eastern Europe and to encourage
the development of archaeology there. If STRATUM PLUS
maintains the breath and the energy so many pages of its
first year, it will become an invaluable point of reference
and a stimulus".
Antiquity,
2000
"...It is
not occasional that both the collection and the peiodical
series to follow are called "STRATUM". The word
here is not used in its "geomorphological" sense.
Rather, it offers a cultural stratum, a union of like-minded
persons".
Clio, 2000
"...The
general impression one gets on reading STRATUM is that
post-Soviet archaeology is alive and well, developing
on the solid foundations of Russian archaeological scholarship".
Slavic Review,
2001
This Journal's goal is to contribute
to further progress of archaeology by consolidating the
best creative strengths of this science, mobilizing the
stratum
which keeps evolving subject to natural doubts, challenges,
expeditions, findings and failures, regardless of hasty
change of authorities, banners and rulers. K. Levi-Strauss
said that the 21st century would either be a century of
humanities or it would not be at all. This means the cultural
text reading techniques that have been developed by archaeologists
must be made applicable in other humanities and through
them in all spheres of social life.
