Iulia D. Timotina

Born in 1976.

Graduated the University of Humanitarian Sciences in Kishinev 1997 – speciality interpreter-referent of English and German languages. Possesses also Russian, Romanian and Italian languages.

As an interpreter worked and continues collaboration with a number of international organizations (IMF, World Bank, UNDP, TACIS, USAID, US Treasury), Republic of Moldova ministries and departments, trnslation bureaus. Experienced written, special and oral consecutive and simultaneous translations. Total length of interpretation service – 9 years.

In December attended courses for simultaneous interpreters organized with the support of Soros Foundation in Linguistic Center, Iasi, Romania.

In 1998 founded Association of professional Interpreters of Moldova.

In May 1998 attended intensive course of economics German language in the framework of ETF European Union «Language Training in Moldova» programme.

In May 2002 – courses of US civilization organized by Continued Education Institute in Kishinev.

In November 2000 – participant of the conference organized by High Anthropological School for written and oral interpreters in Bolon University (Bertinoro, Italy)

In March 2001 – performs report during «Living on and Between Borders» conference organized by Iasi University English language department.

In March 2003 – participant of «Tradition and Postmodernity» conference, devoted to 40 years anniversary of Iasi University English language Department with the report on cognitive model of translation.

In February 2004 attended courses of Critical Thinking development organized by ProDidactica Center, Kishinev.

In High Anthropological school works since 1999. Since 2003 heads Linguistics and Intercultural Communication Technologies Department. Conducts translational seminar considering diverse theoretical and practical problems of translation, professional standards, methods of work. Participants of the seminar are the students of H.A.S. as well as everyone interested amateur and professional interpreters. Translates in English summary of «Stratum plus» international journal.

Finishes working on the postgraduate thesis on the theory of translation (The State University of Moldova, foreign languages and literatures department).

Scientific Interests: theory of translation, Cognitive Linguistics, Critical analysis of Discurse, Interpretation of text, Laguage Pragmatics, Corpus Linguistics.

Gives lectures: Practical course of English Language, Theory and practice of Translation, Introduction in Linguistics, Italian Language (optional course).
