Historians ascertained Moldavian gospodar Stephan the Great's year of birth (presentation of the scientific discovery was organized by the High Anthropological School)

Kishinev. 8th of June. INTERFAX – Moldavian historians discovered manuscripts in the Manuscripts Department of the library of the Academy of Science (Ukraine), in which year of birth of the most famous Moldavian gospodar – Stephan III the Great - was indicated. Scientists announced it on Tuesday during the press-conference in Kishinev.

«One of the manuscripts is one of a kind Greek-Moldavian-Latin vocabulary, containing approximately 30 thousand of Moldavian words. Another manuscript is «Chronograph» , translated by Nicolae Milescu-Spataru (famous medieval representative of Enlightment – «IF») from Greek. It includes numerous data of the lost chronicles that tell of Moldavia’s history», – mentioned historian Alexander Nikitich.

According to his words, it is this manuscript that contains unknown facts from Stephan the Great's life, including the precise date of his birth.

«There haven’t been exact data of his birth before. According to this document, Petru Aron killed Bogdan Voda – father of Stephan - when Stephan was 22. Thus this year is not only 500th commemoration of Stefan cel Mare's death, but also 575th anniversary of his birthday», – emphasized A. Nikitich.

He announced that he was received by Vladimir Voronin, who got acquainted with photocopies of the discovered documents and promised to support their publication.
